InClimate 566; 71 Million US Homes at Risk

According to the US Geological Survey, approximately 71 million housing units or over 50 percent of American homes are threatened by natural disasters like earthquakes, tornadoes and hurricanes. A good 10.6 million are at a very high risk.

Mother Jones magazine reports the size of fires on federal lands has quadrupled since 1985 according to the National Interagency Fire Center. Nine of those really big years for fire have occurred since 2000.

These kinds of numbers will undoubtedly continue to climb as the climate continues to change.
