InClimate 568; Days of Unity & Climate March

The Peoples Climate March and the Alternative Summit on Climate Change will bring thousands of activists to NYC in September. Another leg will come from The Shift Network with a free on-line project “Summer of Peace 2014”. It includes “11 Days of Global Unity” (Sept. 11-21) and overlaps the Peoples Climate March. “We, The World” created the 11-day event intended to celebrate peace, justice and environmental stewardship. It builds more each day to a finale on the United Nations International Day of Peace, September 21. War is the most destructive of human practices and besides the damage to people, animals and the environment it’s a major contributor to climate change.

The 10th Anniversary activities include over 700 concerts, festivals and web casts in more than 60 countries. Some of the big names include Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Daniel Ellsberg, Eckhart Toll, Amy Goodman and Bill McKibben. One of the organizations leading the charge against climate change and organizing the Peoples Climate March is 350.org founded by Bill McKibben. The WE Network is encouraging its members to address questions and comments for the summit to him and some of the other participants.
