InClimate 582; Peoples Climate Art

New technologies and energy sources alone are not enough to insure life will continue or a biosphere will remain in a state like the one we’ve become comfortable with and learned to live within. Short term profit over all - kind of like Geld Uber Alles - is an outdated mantra. We don’t just need patches. We need fundamental shifts and a paradigm change to keep catastrophic climate disruptions from threatening our children and grandchildren.

A major call to address this most important issue is the Peoples Climate March (Sept. 20-21 plus) in New York City. It coincides with a United Nations meeting to discuss the climate. Talk is cheap, the march will urge policy makers to take action. The march is expected to be the biggest climate rally ever.

Change is difficult and often resisted. The vanguard at the forefront of change must inspire others to act by winning their hearts and minds. Music, art and culture are tools that have pushed boundaries before. Deep in Brooklyn, NY, People’s Climate Art has already begun building costumes and props. They are also building a network of artists (inclusive of all forms) to illuminate the exploitive injustices of climate change and challenge those who profit from it. Their web site has more information, ways to participate and national calls.
