InClimate 614; Sun Outshines Energy Needs

The whole world energy usage has been estimated at 17 TWy (Terrawatt-years) per year. An atmospheric scientist at the University of Albany in New York, Dr. Richard Perez, did the math in 2009 to compare energy resources. One thing he found about solar energy, its available energy at 23,000 TWy per year exceeds the world’s energy consumption by a factor of 1,200.

The finite energies Total Reserves come in at:

Coal 900 TWy, Uranium 90-300 TWy, Petroleum 240 TWy and Natural Gas 215 TWy

Some of the other renewables per year:

Wind 60-120 TWy, Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion 3-11 TWy, Biomass 2-6 TWy, Hydro 3-4 TWy, Geothermal 0.3-2 TWy, Wave 0.2-2 TWy and Tides 0.3 TWy

The sun doesn’t spill or leak. It just shines on with energy to spare.
