InClimate 629; Climate March & Flood Wall Street

The historic Peoples Climate March in NYC is TODAY, but there are images from solidarity actions around the world that you may want to see here: http://peoplesclimate.org/global/ and beginning 10:30 a.m. Eastern Time Sunday you can watch the NYC march live by clicking play on the video player at http://peoplesclimate.org/?r=350

You can follow on social networks by looking for posts with the hashtag #PeoplesClimate where people will be posting from the march and other actions around the world. There will also be a March page on Monday below the video stream for posts.

I have no children, but I march for them anyway. I am an adult. Climate change means very little to me personally, but I march for all the children and their children, so they may see at least a portion of the beauty that I have been privileged to experience in my lifetime. It’s really not fair that the greed of the current generation destroys their futures. It may have been acceptable in the past when we did not realize the consequences of our actions, but now as we know we are at a tipping point for catastrophic disruptions - it would be unforgivable to travel down this path of greed and profit at all cost. Wake up! Wake up!

Tomorrow is another day and our work continues. The Climate Justice Alliance has issued a call to action: Wear Blue to symbolize floodwaters wherever you are. If you are in New York City join us to flood Wall Street. A root cause of environmental degradation, climate disruption and countless other problems comes as greed puts profit above all other concerns. Wall Street in America serves as a major center of global capitalism. We call for a paradigm shift and system change to mitigate climate change. Join with us to alter the flow of Wall Street’s everyday activities with civil disobedience, a sit in and general disruption. Gather in Battery Park in lower Manhattan at 9 a.m. September 22 and rise to the steps of the NY Stock Exchange at high noon in civil disobedience. Remember you have choices and can carry the action to the extremes of arrest or merely to its edges. A disruption occurs even if you are willing to disband at the last command - or warning. The choice is yours.
