InClimate 635; Polar Bear Thawed Out

Frostpaw, the polar bear from the Peoples Climate March was arrested during the Flood Wall Street protest. He has been thawed out. Peter Galvin from the Center for Biological Diversity was revealed on a Chris Hayes segment of MSNBC. People had worn blue to demonstrate the rising waters from climate change and gathered to Flood Wall Street and demonstrate anger over the capital greed that drives bad policy. Along with Frostpaw, 103 other protesters were arrested the evening of September 22 and held for about 8 hours. Frostpaw has an October court date.

After the usual kidding that makes serious issues more accessible, the intelligent bear spoke about the whats and whys that are really needed to address the climate issue. He spoke of needing a specific binding agreement between nations that the US has yet to ratify. Politicians that argue against ratification fear it will become unilateral carbon reduction for the US and other nations will go on with business as usual. The fact of the matter is there have been lots of signs and actual reductions in other nations already, but they have the same fears.

America has led the world on a lot of very important issues, but so far not on this critical one. The US has to step up to the plate and retake its place as a world leader.
