Still pricey, but Tesla made another innovation with electric car technology. The new 4-wheel drive Model-S or “The D” is bound to move the whole industry forward. The latest model is claimed to be capable of a range of 275 miles on a single charge with the acceleration of a sports car (0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.2 seconds) and a top speed of 155 miles per hour. The 4-wheel drive feature makes the car more likely to break into markets in the snowy East and Midwest.
The car has all the bells and whistles of future tech with 360 degree “awareness” to obstacles and a front facing camera that recognizes speed, stop signs and stop lights. It allows some limited self-driving. The owner is said to be able to get out of the car and let it self-park in the garage. In any event, it may make the modern world one step closer to ending dependence on fossil fuels.
