InClimate 713; 2013 Spill Total Tops 40-Year Total

Over 1.15 million gallons of crude oil were spilled in US rail accidents in 2013. That single year’s spillage topped the total rail oil spills for the last 40 years or about as long as the fed has been keeping track.

That’s just in the USA. The figures don’t include spills in Canada or Mexico. The estimate for one Canadian spill in Lac-Megantic, Quebec was 1.5 million gallons of good old North Dakota crude. That went from a spill to an explosion and killed 47 people. Pipelines, tankers and railcars are all subject to spills. Solar power? Not so much.
