InClimate 742; UN Humanitarian Report

The latest United Nations World Humanitarian Data report shows 97 million people were affected by natural disasters in 2013. The top five nations by number of people affected were:

 


China and the Philippines both with 25.7 million people impacted followed by India with 16.7 million, Vietnam with 4.1 million and Thailand with 3.5 million people affected.

 


Funding requests by inter-agency appeals for people affected by natural disasters and conflicts have risen 600% in the last ten years from $3 billion in 2004 to $17.9 billion in 2014.
