InClimate 744; Fracking Quakes

Wastewater injection from oil extraction was linked to a series of small earthquakes near Denver, CO in the 1960’s, but it wasn’t thought to be a problem that would lead to larger quakes. A new study now confirms one of Oklahoma’s biggest fracking-linked wastewater injection earthquake cascades led to a very damaging 5.7-magnitude quake that occurred near Prague on Nov. 6, 2011.

Common sense should tell us with advances in renewable energy and the environmental dominoes like climate disruption, spills, clean-ups, air and water quality degradation it’s time to transition away from dirty fossil fuels. Not time to build more pipelines.
