Erring towards caution. It’s generally accepted that some rules that err towards caution are a good idea. There are strict building codes that are meant for safety although every building built ignoring them will not collapse or burst into flames. The same logic can be applied to bicycle helmets, seat belts and even speed limits. Unfortunately, there are interests that err towards profit rather than caution. That is evident in recalls, side effects and law suits. Human activity’s effect on Climate Change is a well accepted hypothesis. If the hypothesis is correct, there is a tipping point with catastrophic results and No Turning Back. With all life as we know it at stake, it would probably be best to err towards caution.
