Scientists estimate burning 565 gigatons of fossil fuels will be catastrophic for the planet. The big fossil fuel energy corporations have a good 2,795 gigatons - or 5X’s over the tipping point - in reserves, but their addiction to astronomical profits drives a continuing search for more. They use lobbyists, public relations smokescreens and whatever means they deem necessary to increase their bottom-line, including reeling in government subsidies for themselves while blocking subsidies for renewable energy companies.
