It’s a topsy turvy world with energy running to and fro. Gasoline and other oil products don’t just come out of the ground. They are refined from crude oil. Iran, with huge oil reserves, is an exporter of crude oil, but a net importer of the refined oil products. The USA, with far less in reserves, is an importer of crude oil, but an exporter of the refined products. The free market economy ignores little things like the environment, safety, rationality and need in favor of profit - The spoils go to the highest bidder.
